Introducing the new Social Media Club at Merced College

The Social Media Club (SMC) is a new club at Merced College.  Our mission is to connect, enhance, and share activities with the local community.  The purpose of this club is to help students engage more with the college by making them aware of college events and activities.  We will be posting regularly, so subscribe to this blog to receive an e-mail every time a new post is posted.  Also, be sure to like us on Facebook.

Below is the club advisor, current club members and a little bit about them.

SMC Advisor – Toni Reintke

Toni Reintke has been a professor at Merced College since 2001.  She teaches coursework in the classroom and online.  Recent activities include presenting at the Social Media Management at the Manager & Supervisor Summit in Merced and delivery of the Social Networking workshop at the Business Resource Center in Merced.  Prior to teaching at Merced College, Toni taught Office Technology at Black Hawk College in Moline, Illinois.  She was recognized in America’s Who’s Who 2010 edition and is a member of the International Virtual Assistant Association.  Toni has a Master of Science Degree in Business Education from Eastern Illinois University and is a certified Social Networking Specialist.

SMC President – Cynthia Blackmore

Cynthia Blackmore is a student and a professor at Merced College.  She teaches classes in the AOM program and Virtual 52 (Desktop Publishing), which is part of the new Virtual Office program.

SMC Vice President – Ricardo Eugenio

Ricardo Eugenio is current;y a student at Merced College.  He is working toward earning a certificate in Administrative Office Management, Administrative Medical Office Management, and the Virtual Office program.  He hopes to start his own virtual assistance business in the near future.

SMC Secretary – Nancy Garcia

Nancy Garcia is a student at Merced College.  She has her AOM Certification and Management Certification.  She is working on her AA Degree as an Administrative Office Professional and Virtual Assistant Certification.  She has experience doing document transcription and is currently in the process of setting up her own virtual assistant business.

SMC Treasurer – Dawn Burris

Dawn Burris is a student at Merced College, working toward her AA degree in Administrative Medical Office Professional, certification in the AOM program, and also in the Virtual Office program while maintaining a 3.864 GPA. Dawn has worked as a Presenter’s Host at the Business Resource Center in Merced, and is currently building her personal business as a virtual assistant creating Facebook pages for local business owners.
